Full title: Rorschach method: Integrative approach to interpretation
Author: Martin Lečbych
Summary: We focuse on one of the most influential psychodiagnostic tool – Rorschach method. Our aim is to provide integrated overview of this method. This book is divided to three main chapters. In the first part we put attention on perceptual cognitive process. We are trying to link the theory of the neuropsychology, neurobiology and modern cognitive theory with selected aspects of Rorschach method. From a practical point of view, we focus on reality testing and integration and organization of sensory experience. We place emphasis on theory of attention and executive control (Posner & Raichle, 1994, 1998) and clasification of attention functions created by Sbordone and Long (1998). In the second part we discuss relationship between emotion and cognition. We attend to particular theories that are devoted to their interdependence. Our work is most influenced by Damasio theory and theory of Current Concerns. We try to summarize possibilities in diagnostics of affective style, emotional impact on the processes of interpretation, we discuss also issues about Alexithymia. The last part of our work is focused on interpersonal relationship. In this part we use the ideas of Psychoanalysis, Self psychology, Ego psychology and theory of Attachment and object relationship. We present the possibilities of multiple psychodynamic scales in the diagnostic of object relationship. We try to look at Rorschach method as diverse tool with many possibilities. Quality interpretation, in our opinion, requires an understanding of many theories which are related to the areas of Rorschach diagnostic. Relying only on one perspective we find to be dangerous. For these reasons, we try to emphasize the integrative position and present one of the possible expamles of integrative concept.
